Based in Düsseldorf and operating across Germany, we are a family business founded in 2014 by German-British husband-and-wife team Angela and Chris Fitzgerald — who together bring over 35 years of international finance recruitment and management consulting experience.

Introducing the CEO
Angela Fitzgerald is the co-owner and Managing Director of Kompass Recruitment GmbH.
Angela is from Düsseldorf and studied Economics with a Major in Finance and HR at Augsburg University. She began her career as a Financial Controller at Fujitsu Siemens. In 2008, Angela moved to London and into her first finance recruiting role.
In 2012 Angela launched a Düsseldorf-based office for a large UK recruitment agency, leading their Germany operation. Angela founded Kompass Recruitment in 2014. 11 years later, she leads the team hands-on, as a trusted business partner to hundreds of businesses across Germany. In 2025, Angela was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year at the German Stevie® Awards.
Angela is also a certified coach, providing life, career, and health-focused coaching to a wide variety of clients. Angela lives near Düsseldorf with her husband and Kompass co-founder and Director, Chris Fitzgerald, and their three children.
